Intercultural Experiential Education

Veijo Baltzar has developed his unique methodology of directing and teaching, based on multicultural intelligence, since 1974. Since 2010, Drom Association has been actively involved in developing Intercultural Experiential Education. This concept originates from Veijo Baltzar’s philosophical thinking, based on his experiences of life, cultural activities and pedagogical work.

Drom Association is committed on a long-term basis to development of Baltzar’s pedagogical work. We aim at collecting sufficient number of scientific evidence on the effects and applicability of Baltzar’s pedagogical methods, which will later enable integration of these methods in arts and educational systems. This work is done in collaboration with universities and academic partners domestically and internationally.

Chancellor of Finland’s Ministry of Education and Culture Anita Lehikoinen considers Baltzar’s pedagogical methods as a potential Finnish product of export. In 2011, the section for universities and research of Finland's Ministry of Education and Culture became convinced that Baltzar's concept of Intercultural Experiential Education expresses a way of thinking that is truly new and important for developing society that should be developed further. Baltzar’s methodology and educational philosophy have been noted as a forerunner project that has remarkable potential in renewing societies in order for them to respond to modern challenges.
